MAEA has been an eye-opening experience for me. Getting to work with fellow students to provide our club’s members with the networking experience they needed was so rewarding!
Now, as the President of MAEA, I wish to only improve on what we have provided in the past, giving students in engineering more opportunities to talk to industry and understand where they want their careers to go after graduating.

Joining MAEA is simple and also free. There are two methods to join; first is via our Google Form which is linked throughout this site. The second method is registering through the RUSU clubs page if you’re a member of the union. All new members are added to our mailing list to be kept up to date with MAEA news and events.
No, to become a member of MAEA you do not have to be a student. However if you are not currently employed or enrolled within RMIT, you must be an alumni. Please note however that MAEA is a student association and therefore our events are targeted at students.
The MAEA committee are the group of active members who dedicate their time to ensure the association operates smoothly. The committee meets once a week to organise and discusses topics ranging from events planning, to finances. If you are interested in becoming a committee member, don’t hesitate to reach out to the team. No member will ever be denied a spot.
Any registered member of MAEA can join the committee. However, we expect committee members to be dedicated to the association and put in a respectable effort to ensure MAEA operates smoothly.
Throughout the year, MAEA will hold a number of events from professional networking events to industry tours which all contribute towards better career preparation for members. Although MAEA is an academic association we still organise many social events throughout the academic year. Including regular barbeques to help relax after a long day at uni.
MAEA uses EventBrite to publish event details. Events that require registration will be conducted through EventBrite. To find our upcoming events please view the event tabs on this webpage. Furthermore, members are notified of upcoming events through our mailing list.
MAEA regularly keeps in contact with engineering firms within Melbourne. Our connections which generally are established by employed graduate students, allow the association access to organise industry events for current RMIT students.
Our mission is to give students, whether in first, or final year the best possible opportunities and resources to begin a successful career in engineering. MAEA can’t hand you a graduate job, but we work hard to ensure that members are assisted in obtaining their desired career path.
Our association is 100% student run. We work hard to ensure that our mission can be achieved, however with student resources this can be difficult. By sponsoring MAEA either financially or through collaboration, gives the association assistance to ensure that we can provide students with the best possible opportunities and skills to begin a successful career in engineering.
If you or your company are interested in sponsoring MAEA please email us on rmitmaea@gmail.com or get in touch with our president. Sponsorship can be in the financial form of grants, or through event collaborations such as industry site visits or MAEA hosted Q&A sessions.
